What your rank is
Your rank shows how well you play a team sport compared with everyone else on Sportivoo. It goes up when you win and down when you lose, and it settles where you belong.
You have a rank for each team sport: football, padel, tennis, volleyball and basketball each have their own. Every team-sport event counts, tournament matches included. Solo activities (bike rides, runs, walks) earn XP but have no rank.
The ladder
From the bottom to the top:
| Tier | Steps | What it says about you |
|---|---|---|
| Beginner | 4 | Just starting out: every event counts |
| Bronze | 4 | Knows the game, still finding a rhythm |
| Silver | 4 | A solid, reliable player |
| Gold | 4 | Consistently strong, wins more than loses |
| Elite | 3 | Among the best players around |
| Master | 3 | Top level: few get this far |
| Champion | 1 | The very top of the ladder |
Inside a tier you climb the steps: Gold 1/4 is where you enter Gold, Gold 4/4 is one good run from Elite. The ladder in the app shows where you are, how far the next step is, and the people you know on each rung.
Your first three events: placement
Your rank appears after your first three events in a sport. These placement events move you much more than normal ones, the first most of all, so you get close to your level quickly. While you play them, your profile shows "Placement 1 of 3", "2 of 3"…
Placement happens once per sport, not every season.
How many points an event is worth
Every event starts from the result: a win is worth the most, a draw a little, a loss takes some away. Then two things change the amount.
How expected the result was
Before the game, the app knows how strong both teams are. Beating a stronger team earns more than beating a weaker one; losing to a stronger team costs less than losing to a weaker one.
Where you should be
Behind your visible rank, the app keeps a hidden skill rating, updated after every game from the result and the strength of both teams. Everyone on a team gets the same share, whoever scored.
If your rank is below your skill, wins are worth more and losses cost less, up to double. If it's above your skill, the opposite. So every win still feels like progress, but your rank doesn't keep climbing just because you play a lot: it moves towards your real level and stays around it.
The promotion shield
When you move up a step, you get a shield for your next 3 games: a loss can't send you back down. It's shown on your profile and in the recap ("Promotion shield kept your rank").
If you stop playing
Below Gold, nothing happens: your rank waits for you.
From Gold up, the top of the ladder belongs to people who play:
- after 2 weeks without a ranked event you get a notification;
- after 3 weeks you start losing points, a little each week (checked on Mondays);
- you never drop out of your tier: a Gold player stays Gold.
One ranked event stops it.
Seasons
Your rank carries over from one season to the next. What starts again at a new season are your season's wins, draws, losses and MVP count. See the seasons guide.
Questions
Why did I gain fewer points than my friend for the same win?
Because points depend on where each of you is compared with your real level. If your friend's rank is below their skill, their wins are worth more.
I lost and dropped a step straight after a promotion. How?
You can't, for the 3 games after a promotion: the shield stops it. After that, a loss can take you down a step again.
Do friendly games count?
Every team-sport event counts for rank. Solo activities don't have ranks.
How is the result of a game decided?
The players confirm the score after the game. Votes from more reliable players weigh more (see the trust and fair play guide). If the game had a confirmed referee, the referee's score is final.
Can I see other people's ranks?
Yes: ranks are on public profiles, and the ladder shows the people you know.
